I am currently a junior and I really want to get accepted to Columbia. I am an international student with a GPA of at least 90 (most of the time 93) and with a PSAT score of about 1800. I am in NHS (national honor society) and participate a lot in community service, I am also the president of a big club and take a bunch of extracurriculum stuff. I also participated in their summer program for highschoolers, and I have told them that I am interested in them. If I don't have the chance to be accepted now, what can I do to increase my chances to get accepted?

It’s really hard to tell at this point. You’d really need to know what your actual SAT/ACT scores are. Your PSAT score is really not indicative of your scores on either of the other tests since they are longer and presumably harder.

Do something that is unique. I can’t specify just what that would be, just pursue something you love. Perhaps you could operate a fundraiser in your “big club.”

Nearly every applicant will have an astronomically high GPA and SAT/ACT score. You need to distinguish yourself from the other brilliant students who apply, and it’s hard to do that solely based on grades and standardized test scores.
