Do I have a good chance getting into these schools with my SAT and gpa?

Hi I'm Laura and i am just looking for some advice if you think i have good chances getting into colleges with my current SAT and gpa (not including activities in and out of school)...
If i super score my SAT I get a 1910 (CR 610 / M 640 / W 660)
and currently my GPA is equivalent to a 89%, which i think is about a 3.5 on the 4.0 scale.
I am planning to take the SATs again in the fall so i hope my scores get better.

the Schools that i am interested in applying to are:
-Boston College
-Barnard College
-Villanova University
-Binghamton University
-New York University
-George Washington University
-Boston University
-Fordham University
-Fairfield University
-SUNY Stony Brook
-Providence University

do you think i have a chance of getting into these schools?? thanks.

89% is usually 3.4, but with those grades you have average to good shots at all of them. The only low Reach/high Matches are probably Boston College, GWU, Boston University, NYU, and Villanova. You probably won’t get into all of them, though. If you get in, you probably won’t get much merit aid, and will have to see what need based financial aid they give you.

Actually, Barnard is the most selective college on the list and those stats are weak for Barnard. The College Board web site says 70% of admitted students have GPA’s of 3.75+; another 25% are in the 3.5-3.75 range. So anything below 3.5 is unlikely – but I don’t know how 89% converts. The SAT scores are acceptable but at or near the 25% level of the score range for each score-- so I’d think Barnard would be a big reach. Barnard does holistic admission standards – so other factors could help.

NYU is the reachy side too, but probably chances re somewhat better-- but would be a stretch if you need financial aid. (NYU doesn’t meet full need, and its policies weighted toward students at the upper end of their applicant pool.)

@calmom Actually, I have seen someone get into Barnard with an average in the mid 80s and a 1600 on the SAT. She just wrote a killer essay. So just make sure that you make your personality show on your application.

I didn’t say Laura couldn’t get in – I said it’s a reach. I normally don’t do “chances” post but I saw it odd that @Cosmological saw the other schools listed as the “only” reach when Barnard is the most selective on the list. (I think significantly more selective than the others, though some of others might be more stats focused.

I mean here are the admit rates:
Barnard 21%
BC 32%
GW 33%
NYU 35%
Villanova 45%

So Barnard is pretty much a reach for everyone.

@calmom Oh, I forgot to add that one. I only put a couple schools for reaches at first and then I edited in some more, but I missed Barnard.
