Do I have a realistic chance of getting into UT Austin's Law School?

Hello,

I’m considering applying to law schools next year, so this is early for me, but I want to know if I potentially have a realistic shot at getting into UT Law. I’ll be graduating in spring of next year with a degree in political science, and assuming that I don’t do anything to obliterate my GPA, I’ll be graduating with a 3.4 - 3.45 GPA. I haven’t taken the LSAT yet, but I have taken a prep test, and scored 155 without much prep, so there’s room for me to improve. I’m also an in-state resident.

I’ve looked at UT’s GPA and LSAT numbers and I know I’m below the median GPA, which is closer to 3.7 than 3.5. I also realize that because of my lower GPA, I’ll have to supplement my application with a much higher LSAT score. UT has been my top school for a long time, and I have decent experience related to my field. I heard that GPA+LSAT is extremely important for admissions into top law schools, so I’m wondering if I still have a realistic chance at getting accepted to this one, provided that I can raise my LSAT up significantly. Thanks.

since your GPA will likely be under UT’s median, you need to get the LSAT above UT’s median to have a decent shot.
