Do I have a shot at ED?

I am a junior- I transferred from #3 public school in Minnesota to a VERY competitive and more academically rigorous public school in Virginia, and in fact, so many seniors from my new school were accepted into prestigious colleges (MIT, Harvard, Brown, Yale, Princeton, Columbia,...).

Female African American
RANK: Unknown
GPA: 3.88 UW, 4.18 W
Junior Year: AP USH, AP Psych, Honors Math Analysis, Honors English 11, Honors Chemistry, Photography I, and Leadership I as an extra elective which is taken before school (Because of moving, I struggled and got Bs in AP and Honors classes in the first semester; I am doing MUCH better in second semester, so hopefully, I will get straight As in second semester)
Senior Year: AP Calc AB, AP GOV, AP ENGLISH 12, AP BIO, Honors Physics, Photography II (I love photography-it is one of my hobbies!), Leadership II as an extra elective
PSAT: 161
SAT: 1670 (610M 570W 490V )
I have a profound hearing loss (I am deaf), and this really affects my English skills. It is why my CR and W skills are low, along with no prepareness. I am planning to retake SAT I, and of course, I will study very hard for it. I am planning to take SAT II History this May (600s), and Chemistry and Math 2C (getting 700-720s on practice tests).

wow. you are amazing. i think you have a great shot. good luck!

I'd say you have a really good shot, too...the only missing piece is the SAT scores. They may or may not be considered an issue, I just don't know in your case. If you can get them up, though, you'll have an absolutely awesome application.

I hope somewhere in there you find time to have some fun!

One more note: even if you don't get accepted ED, don't despair...you may get accepted in the regular round. It happened to me.

Thanks for boosting my confidence. I recently started to believe I am not right for Princeton and it might reject me. I know I have to work on my SAT score; that is what summers are for! Do you have any advice or suggestions for me? Just be brutually honest, okay? I can take it, no matter how harsh it is. Thanks :)

Aren't the SAT scores too low for Princeton?

Yes, I know; my score is too low due to my hearing loss. You see, I cannot hear as many words as hearing kids hear, and therefore, their vocabulary is larger than mine. My English skill is still behind than my peers'. On the SAT, hearing kids recognize more words than me and do much better than me. I learned this from my teacher who works with deaf students. This is why my score, especially in CR, is low.

apply. because, if you never did, you will never know!

you show a lot of determination. you may not have the best stats, but you are the best in your bracket.

you remind me of that guy who wrote the first english dictionary... he had a few problems with seeing and hearing. his name was Samuel Johnson, I believe.

what do you mean by "the best in your bracket"?

i don't know a person like you.. it's very "unique" - a great thing.

i hope you apply...

not sure how you will manage classes, but princeton wouldn't accept you if you couldn't handle it. :)
