do I have a shot at smith?

I got to a public high school, that usually sends maybe 2 or 3 kids to top schools every year.
My SAT scores are decent, but my math isn't great.
CR- 720
W- 630
M- 590
I definately plan on retaking them one more time and doing much better in writing and math.
On the ACT I got a 28. (also retaking for a 30+ hopefully)

freshman year
GPA- 3.8
weighted- 4.2

sophomore year
GPA- 3.8
weighted- 4.2

junior year
GPA- 4.0
weighted- 4.5
rank- 30ish out of 280 (it will improve after the first quarter of my senior year)

My one concern is that my school does not offer any honors courses and very few AP's, so my courseload isn't that challenging compared to other schools, but I did take every advanced course I could. (Trig, AP Euro, Spanish 4, etc.)
I took 3 AP tests, 2 were self studied.
Euro History- 3
American History- 3
U.S. government and politics- 4

I took two classes at wilkes university and I will be in dual enrollment during my senior year as well.
I took psychology and governments of the world and got a 4.0 in both.

EC's
I began and I am the president of the Young Democrats Club at my school.
Diversity Club
Newspaper columnist
Literary Magazine
Speech and Debate

other honors and activities:
member of the national junior honor society
AP scholar
organized a voter registration drive at my school
volunteer at my church all the time
volunteer at the library twice a week
etc.
I'm not going to list absolutely everything because I think you get the jist. I'm thinking of taking the politically active angle. I want to major in political science/international studies, so I wanted to emphasis how active I am in my community as far as campaigning for specific candidates and writing editorials.

Go ahead and apply! While no one can predict admissions decisions, and I don’t know much about the Smith admissions process, IMO you look like a qualified and interesting applicant.

Smith no longer requires SAT or ACT scores for US applicants. If you apply online, it's free. Nothing to lose!

And, Smith is wonderful. Here are some facts: http://www.smith.edu/collegerelation...Smith-0414.pdf

Integrity- that link is no longer available on the smith website!

Claire- make sure you make good use of that optional supplement available on the common application. You can get a lot of that community involvement and maybe even a few editorial samples into that attachment.

Good luck!

Don't worry about not taking a lot of honors or AP courses if your school doesn't offer them. That's only a concern if your school did offer them and you didn't take advantage of them. You aren't penalized for going to a school without them.

synergy928, thank you for pointing out the broken link. Here it is again:
