Here is what the admissions person at our campus visit said:

Your overall high school transcript, and difficulty of the courses is very important. Taking the most difficult courses, AP & Honors if your school offers them, is more important than anything else.

SAT Scores

Essay

Your involvement

I am not ranking these in any order of signficance, except that number 1 was the most important. Though he did mention that the essay is something that can make you stand out. They read alot of them and about a third of the people write the same crap. So he pointed out that you can seperate yourself from the pack with the essay.

So, based on that, do you think I have a decent chance??

If you look at the freshman class profile on the UofD site you have a chance. Are you planning to play any sports there? Have you contacted athletics department to see if you can get a sports edge into UofD?

I was at the school yesterday and the admission office told us that your Senior class schedule is very important as well as the trend of your grades they want to see an upward trend. They hate kids who are slackers there last year in high school they said it was more important then sat scores but who knows.

No, I'm not planning on playing tennis in college because it's a huge time committment. This year, I am taking AP Environmental Science, AP Spanish, Honors English, Advanced math and electives and have an 88 for the semester..............still don't know if that's good enough.........was I supposed to send the mid-year grades?

My Ds school sends them, you can check online if the school has them. Your course load sounds good. U of D has regional people looking at apps since different schools offer different ap and honors classes your app reader will be familar with your school and your peers for comparison they know if you are taking a hard schedule for your school. they claim it is very important. So many factors go into the admission process. You sound like you may fall just short but you never know.
