Do I have a shot?

Michigan has always been a dream school for me. Everyone I've known who has spent time there as a student is devoted for life. So it's near the top of my list of colleges. But reading the stats of admits on this forum is a little scary! Do I have a chance? And what can I do to improve (other than up my grades or SATs).

SAT - 1960 (1310 CR/M)
GPA - 3.95 W (3.2 UW) - Virtually all honors classes with 5 APs Junior and Senior years
Top 15% of class
Lead Pianist in the Jazz Band 10-12
Athletics - Freshman Football, three years of varsity golf 10-12
VP Fundraising for Recycling Club 11-12
Other activities too, but those are the highlights
Resident of CT

Thanks.

I hate to be a downer but a 3.2 unweighted and a 1960 probably won’t get it done, especially with not too special ECs. If you’re applying next year I don’t know if there’s much you can do. Write amazing essays? Maybe retake the SAT or take the ACT and shoot for a high score to make up for your GPA (like 33 ACT, or a 2200 SAT). Good luck

I think you have a chance if you are an OOS URM.

ummmmmmmmm you have a pretty low chance unless you are a girl and / or hispanic/black

Actually you might have a better chance if you are a guy and Hispanic/AA.

I always thought that was weird. Females are more common in college but they still have more special scholarships
