Do I have any chance of transfering in to UT?

I started my college life at Baylor. My parents forced me to study BIology and due to lack of interest I had a 2.25 GPA after 1.5 years. Then I transferred in to University of Houston studying English/History and now have a 3.868 GPA. I am active in an History honors society, a chess club, and a film club. I plan to spend ample time on my two essays. DO I stand a chance in getting in as a double History/English major? What about A & M?

I would say admission to A&M is a near certainty.
For UT, you’ll be applying to the College of Liberal Arts, I think, which is one of the less selective from the university - so you’ll have that going for you. How many hours have you studied at UoH? How many hours do you have total?
UT will calculate a cumulative GPA comprised of your total academic record through college, that’s how you will be evaluated. So, if you have a heavy number of hours on the upside from UoH to balance those from Baylor i’d say you’ve got a shot.

Although, you should be aware, UT has a 60-hour coursework in residence requirement. Meaning that to get a degree you’ll need to complete 60 hours at UT once you transfer in. Not sure how much you have left on your major, but just keep that in mind.

I currently have 67 hours (including courses that I already am completing for Spring). With Fall and Spring (Spring which I am currently taking) I will have 24 hours at UH. I know I stand a much higher chance of transferring if I take one more semester at UofH and then transferring, but I am going to take my shot.

Best of luck!
