<p>Cal has always intrigued me but i've long thought it to be out of my range. Do any of you think i have any chance at this school?</p>

but your essay could really make or break their decision..you never know.</p>
<p>Your upward grade trend is also very good. The UC GPA calculation ignores freshman and senior years, so your middle two are good. </p>
<p>Were you in state, I'd say you have a very good chance. Out of state (9% in the school) makes it exponentially more difficult. Would you really want to pay $40,000 a year for public education, though? It is a good school, but for $40,000 you could go to a private and get more intimate classes (your first 2 years will have a lot of large lectures, and you probably won't get to know your excellent professors at Cal until at least junior year because the GSIs (while good) teach most lower level classes).</p>
