I lived in France from age 7-16, so my 9th and 10th year grades don't have Honors or APs since those don't exist in France. Therefore my GPA isn't high when it is cumulative (2.9) but if you look at my Junior year of HS it is 4.1. And my senior grades are looking the same so far.

I took 2 AP exams last year: Psychology and French, and got 5 on both.
I am taking AP European History this year and ALL Honors classes. (And i'll be taking the AP European History AP Test)

My counselor statement explains my lower GPA and grade situation for 9th and 10th grade.

Subject test:
Literature: 640
French Language: 800

I'm the photographer and web designer of my school newspaper, I babysit and do french tutoring, I do community work for the Salvation Army and Habitat for Humanity, but have only done so since about a month. I play the piano and do portrait photography. I've been in clubs such as FBLA and the French Club and have also been a lead actress in drama class.

My essay has info about my living in France (diversity), the culture and traveling experiences I had (I traveled throughout Europe a lot).

The Window essay I wrote is about me looking through the window of an apartment in Salzbourg, Austria, where I went with my best friend, I talk about our dreams and aspirations and things of that type that we had then and are still working for today, etc etc. The love for traveling...

Your GPA is very low for Williams, but the circumstances were beyond your control. Your SAT scores are a little low too… Maybe try retaking the SAT if you can! Your ECs are pretty awesome if that helps! Good luck!

Thanks for your opinion, i’d take the SAT again if I thought the results would get higher, but I took it like 4 times and I don’t think the scores will get any stronger. That’s why I took the subject tests to maybe hopefully help out.
I guess I just have to cross my fingers, maybe I stand out enough for them to want to give me a chance.

Based on these stats and no amazing ECs, I think it is unlikely you will make it into Williams as an Int’l (same result for US citizen). Best shot is to retake the SAT, but even increasing it 200 points (1900 to 2100) probably would not make you competitive for Williams. Sorry for being so negative and hope things work out. In the mean time, how about trying a few other US LACs that are very good, but a bit easier to get into or SAT optional, with a strong Int’l flavor such as Macalester and Middlebury (SAT optional).

I took several SAT classes and went through several SAT books to review math and took math tutoring as well for months, but the math SAT score just didn’t go up :/

Thanks for the honest opinion muckdogs07, that’s kind of what I figured but I wanted to try to apply anyways. I’m also applying to Davidson and Vassar College as other LAC’s. Any opinion on those and my chances?

With low SAT scores, I’d look at some less competitive LAC.Try Skidmore, Kenyon, St. Olaf, and Wofford (you can make all of these deadlines!) I think you would like them plus they have the same feel with less selectivity! Good luck!

Nina2332: Scores are not everything and; you should apply and see what happens. You could certainly get in if you are an individual with something to contribute to Williams. I speak from experience.

Thank you! I have applied, so all I can do is wait and see. It would just be so amazing if they accepted me…sadly grades seem to matter a lot to Williams so i’m trying not to get my hopes up…
