Do I have enough to get into MIT ??

Hey Everyone,

I’m also one of the several hundreds of thousands of candidates aspiring to be in MIT, (someday - sigh!)

Here’s my little profile,

10th Grade : 92%
12th Grade : 84%

Currently, I’m on F-1, studying my first semester in TX (Undergraduate Freshman)
I have taken up courses like :

Electrical Engineering - S
Mechanical Engineering - S
Calculus 1 - A
History - B+
Chemistry - C+
(My current GPA sucks real bad!)

But I have loads of credits (about 60 Credits) even though I’m in my freshman year, like

Calculus 2 & 3, University Physics 1 & 2, Computer Science (C++, Data Structures), English, History 2, Economics, Political Science, Technical Writing, Visual Arts & a few other courses.

Apart from these, I have
S.A.T : 760 - 800 - 750
I have taken G.R.E also : 750 - 770

I have the following certifications :
• Cisco Certified Network Associate
• Java SE
• Microsoft Systems Certified Engineer
• CompTIA A+

I do have a music portfolio too, for Intermediate Drums & Guitars.

I have been working as a Research Lab Assistant under the Bio-Electrical Engg. Dept.
I have been a part of my university’s Robotics Team.

I have been working on a Senior-Level Project which is supposed to be done in the final year of my major. I can finish that before this year ends.
I have also made programming projects in C++, dealing with Machine Learning & also Stock Market. I have also worked in Sandbox platforms.

I’m a part of a few National Honor Societies & Fraternities both in my university & outside.
And as far as Athletics is concerned, although I do have been in a few sports like soccer, cricket etc but I don’t really have much to showcase :D

I also can speak & sit for exams in languages like Arabic, Chinese, Spanish & few Indian languages (if that counts :P)

I know my profile isn’t impressive at all, but just tell me that whether do I even stand a chance to even apply to MIT or not ?
If not, what else should I work on ?

If you bring your GPA to 3.5+, you can be considered competitive as a transfer applicant, but it will still be tough.

I know…I know…

I’ll try to bring up my GPA as close to 4.0 GPA this next semester.

But could you please tell me in what other areas am lacking in ?

Hello ?
Can anyone help ?

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/massachusetts-institute-technology/939227-reminder-no-one-not-even-me-can-give-you-accurate-chance-mit.html</a></p>

Just in case you haven’t read it yet.

Yeah, No one can help or tell about how MIT picks up its students.
I have seen many brilliant candidates having perfect scores & perfect “everything” getting their asses whipped by the admissions panel.

The only reason ppl start asking for chances is to get that spirit to keep them motivated throughout the admissions process. Cause even if someone says you don’t have a chance doesn’t mean he’ll not apply :)

Anyways, thanks for the replies :D
