do i have even the slightest chance with my test scores?

ugh i feel like i am so screwed because of my horrible test scores. i'm sooo frustrated with myself i really wanted to go to a top-tier school, my parents won't let me retake tests in january. i took act/sat prep courses, did practice tests, nothing worked. I am just a really bad test taker. what do you think my chances are at these schools? thanks!

I am ambitious, passionate, and have a huge heart (i tried to show this in my essays)

Columbia (legacy)
UPenn (Wharton)
Cornell
Pepperdine (i love this school!)
UNC Chapel Hill
safeties: northern arizona and university of pacific

Thanks!

you’ve got no chance at the ivies man… but being deferred by stanford is curious…maybe your essays were really nice?

I don’t understand, how could you grow up in a rough environment when you have legacy in Columbia and Harvard, two of the best schools in the world?

i think so. i worked on my essays for months and made it clear that stanford was my #1 choice. i’m hoping that stanford decided to overlook my test scores in context with the rest of my application, maybe other schools will too. i know its not likely but it never hurts to try

yeah sorry i realized that would cause confusion after i posted it, my parents didn’t go there, my older sister went to harvard undergrad, graduated last summer now she’s at columbia law.

anyone else? i’m really nervous about this

You’ve got my public school beat
*If you are reading my older posts, I now go to a private school**

we have a total of 0 applying to ivy league schools
rofl

oh wow, good for your sister
you definitely have a chance, especially considering your race and extra curriculars
It’s probably going to come down to your essays

I think your race played a big factor in it and I think your essay or extras did too. Thats good that you got deferred from Stanford because that means they didnt completely reject you! good Luck. your legacy might play a big part too

I kinda have the same problem. My scores arent that great compared to some people on here

It sounds like you have some powerful essays, and are unique applicant. Being a URM will definitely help, but I dunno if it will help enough to get into the Ivies :(. Do you have any Safeties?

Chance me?

Siblings, unfortunately, don’t make you a legacy.

I can see Pepperdine, the ivies will be tough. Is UOP and Arizona financial safeties?

I would have liked to see some lower ranked schools that meet need on your list assuming you need considerable aid. Some will still be accepting applications.

thanks for the feedback everyone! i’ve decided to just calm down and see what happens. right now i’m leaning towards pepperdine i’m not going to hold my breath for the ivies. i’ll just cross my fingers and hope for the best! good luck to everyone!!
