Do I have to submit a 4-year-school-failed transcript to CC?

Hi guys,

I attended a 4-year school for two semesters 8 years and failed. Haven’t even thought about school since as I’ve been working 50+ hours/week and getting promotions and blah blah… but now my lack of a degree is rearing it’s ugly head and I’ve hit a brick wall in my ability to advance. I’m pretty much 100% committed to getting some education at this point in my life - how far I will go I’m not sure but I at least need to start the ball rolling. I work 5 minutes away from a CC and I work in the morning (and have a good work ethic going) so it seems like now is the time to do it.

I’ve done some searching online and there’s plenty of discussions about submitting bad transcripts to get into a 4 year… but not so much on CC. I’d like to not even mention it at all and start with a clean slate. I’ve heard that CC’s are public and accept pretty much everyone and offer an opportunity for a clean slate, but there’s also lots of people online saying that neglecting to submit a transcript can be viewed as deceptive and may result in repercussions down the road. If I mention this to an admissions person will they steer me in the direction that’s best for me, or act in accordance with whatever the college wants them to do?

Thanks for the help!

This very much depends on the specific Community College you are applying to. Some don’t ask for GPA and transcript at all. Even those that do ask often will accept you no matter what your grades were.

I think asking the admissions person at the Community College is the right thing to do. Neglecting to submit a transcript could come back to bite you so I would advise against it.
