Does anyone know if I must send in my ACT scores to colleges? I got a 2290 on the SAT and a 30 on the ACT (no idea what happened) and I feel like my ACT scores don't reflect my SATs. So do I HAVE to send in my ACTs to colleges? Will it count against me if I do have to send both, or does it not matter since colleges only consider the best scores (I think)? Thanks for your help!

It depends on the university! Some require all (Penn, Georgetown, Yale, etc), but it just depends on the school’s individual policies.

Where are you applying?

I’m applying to Penn, Harvard, Columbia, University of Washington, Western Washington University, Stanford, and UC LA… guess I’ll just have to research this one. Is there a penality for not sending scores when the university requires all? Gah… I hate myself for taking the ACT :P

The score policies are posted on college board’s site for the most part - might double check on the school websites. From all I’ve read - it’s an ethical challenge, if school’s ask, they expect you to send them. Not sure they can “catch” you if you don’t - and if they do, expect rejection. Everything I’ve read, over and over, says schools consider the highest score submitted.

Nope not at all, you don’t have to send in your ACT
The “you must send in all your score” policy is designed for people who have taken either the SAT or ACT multiple times and want to “super score” or just pick the test date they did the best on. If you only took the ACT once and you don’t want to use it, just think that you didn’t take the ACT ever and report only SAT.

At least that’s how I interpreted the rules…it only makes sense.

Well good luck if you’re taking it tomorrow!

Sorry - that is not the case. When a school asks for all your scores, that is what it means. All the scores from all the sittings. They may or may not superscore. That info is on this site and it is spelled out on college board, and most web sites of schools that want ALL your scores. Some schools who ask for all your scores, do not super score.

Thanks for all the info… I did retake the ACT yesterday, so hopefully that will make up for the 30… I’ll check College Board and double check on the sites for info on sending test scores. I’ll probably just end up sending all my scores to be safe and hope for the best!
