I’m currently enrolled in a two year community college and I’m majoring in Psychology. I recently changed my mind and now I want to go to medical school to get my medical degree. I’m a sophomore and I think I will probably spend three years at a community college instead of two. I want to know what to know what can I do to finish faster? For example: if I take General biology I at a community college, can I take General biology II at the university that I’m planning to transfer too or do I have to take both General biology I and II at the community college? Same thing for Chemistry, Organic Chem, Physics etc. What can I do to successfully complete those requirements? I need advise and im hoping to find a mentor.
Medical schools prefer to see all the hard-core med school required courses to be done at the university level, as opposed to the community college level. Generally, it’s recommended you get most of your gen ed requirements out of the way at the cc, then focus on pre-med preparation once you transfer. Make an appointment with an advisor at the cc, and check with the schools you’re likely to transfer to, to make sure you’re investing your time and money wisely.
It is probably better to take sequences at the same school to avoid mismatches, unless the articulation agreement between schools indicates that splitting across schools is ok.
You need to check with the school you will be transferring into to answer your question.
