by law? I am over 21 and I never wear one before...

No, I don’t believe so. You should though…

personally, if you don’t fall of ur bike, then no.

legally, it probably depends on ur individual state’s specific laws as diff. state have diff. laws for issues like this.

Nobody intentionally falls off their bike.
I suggest you wear a helmet.

Safety first bro. You will regret it if you get in an accident. An ounce of prevention goes a long way.

Someone died at UCSD because he didn’t wear a helmet when riding a skateboard. Don’t worry about not looking “cool.”

If you are over 18 in Cali then you don’t have to wear a helmet.
But it is illegal to ride your bike drunk… just so everyone knows.
Weird, right? Trying to do the responsible thing and not drive.
Well, I suppose you could get hit by car because you’re drunk
and not paying attention. Ah, well.

agj is right. You are not required to wear a helmet over the age of 18, but you can get a DUI on a bike.

I personally hate wearing a helmet – love the wind flying through the hair and all that. After a 20 year old on a bike was found laying in the road outside my house being choaked by his back-pack after being hit by a car (biker’s fault, he blew a stop sign), and seeing how the helmet saved his life (although it was touch and go with the back pack!), I never go anywhere on a bike without wearing a helmet. Especially having to share the road these days with maniac drivers.

yeah, I’d recommend wearing a helmet if possible. most streets near campus don’t have a bike lane, and all the drivers are other college students (and hence most are young and rive recklessly), it’s just not worth the risk. I’ve only had my bike for a month and I’ve almost been hit by cars 3 times (because they didn’t want to share the road).

Wear one. They’ve literally saved my life twice. Once on campus I was riding back in the evening when someone else on a bike didn’t check for other bikers at an intersection, so I had to skip out to avoid a 25mph collision. I couldn’t write very well for a week, but my head was fine.
