Do I intend to apply for merit aid?

What do I write here? Would I love merit aid? Sure... Do I think my stats are going to get me merit aid at U Chicago? No...

Is saying that I intend to apply for merit aid when my stats aren't bad, but aren't amazing, going to look arrogant?

No. Apparently, UChicago merit aid is rather sporadic and unpredictable… so you might as well check the “Yes” box. When I was sitting in my info session on campus, the Admissions person basically said, “YES! Mark that box for Merit Aid. You never know what you’ll get!” Marking the box doesn’t look arrogant. Marking the box looks like you want free money.

Well that answers that. Thank you!

If you’re still doubting it, even a little, think about it this way.

If you don’t try, you won’t get it.
And most students who enroll at the UofC don’t get it… and they’re crazy smart. So if you don’t get it, then you’re in the company of a lot of really intelligent people who also didn’t get it. But if you do get it, then AWESOME! Less debt ftw.
