I founded a club a couple years back and want to list it in my college app. But here’s the thing–I actually founded it myself, but my friend asked me if he could put that he co-founded it with me. I felt bad because he’s aiming for super high colleges and doesn’t have as much application stuff as me, so I said it was OK. Does this mean I should put myself down as a co-founder, or will listing myself as just “founder” raise red flags for admissions people to kick me out? I appreciate any and all responses, thank you!
I don’t think that there’s a substantive difference between founding and co-founding a club and there are benefits to both – founding something alone shows leadership, but co-founding it shows leadership, the ability to work with someone else towards a mutual goal, and the willingness to share in the glory.
In the end, I doubt that Adcoms are going to pay that much attention and look that closely at one EC unless it’s a major part of your story (e.g., that your club went on to create something that won national competitions or that it shaped your world view in a significant way)
@lovethebard thanks for the quick response! Ok, co-founded it is
