Do I need a master degree? Talent Agent/Music Business

<p>Hi,</p>

<p>I want to become a talent agent or work in the entertainment industry. My dream school is Syracuse University because of their amazing music department. I want to know do I need a masters to become a talent agent? I know in today's world it will help you land a job faster compared to does that have 4 years. Then again, to become a talent agent or land a career in the entertainment industry you just need connections, and networking. </p>

<p>If theirs a chance I have to go for a masters, I rather go to SUNY Oneonta for my 4 years then transfer to NYU for my masters. If I don't need one I rather just get my degree in Syracuse University.</p>

<p>What do you guys think? Should I go for a masters? Thank you!</p>

<p>I doubt a masters degree would matter that much for a talent agent. The key is as you said connections, networking, and job experience. I’m sure a bachelor’s degree would be more than sufficient and if you had enough other things to bring to the table you wouldn’t even need that.</p>

<p>You don’t need any degree to work in the entertainment industry, but going to school will help you get internships.</p>

<p>I know because I’ve asked multiple people in the industry and I’m currently trying to work in the industry.</p>
