I went to a very small private school freshman and sophomore year. I was not allowed to take AP classes and the advanced classes I was in were not officially classified as honors. I then switched to a public school. Currently, my unweighted GPA is a 4.0 but my wGPA is only 4.3 (all weighting coming from my Junior year). Obviously if I was at public school the whole time all of those classes I took in private school would be classified as honors and my wGPA would be higher. Should I bother explaining this in the additional info section?
I would. Or you could write your essay about your “obstacle” being transferring from private to public, and mention it in there.
No, this is something your counselor should explain in their rec.
Ask your high school its procedures. Ours sends a school profile to each college, which lists the honors and AP courses available in the school.
I would ask the counselor what will be disclosed. This is not as straightforward as it usually is because you transferred schools. It might be helpful to contact the counselor from your previous school.
