Moving & Switching schools & effects on admissions

I went to a large public high school when I was a freshman and took the most rigorous course load there and got a 4.0 unweighted

Then I moved to a small prestigious private school because of a family move, and there are no honors classes available for 9-10th grades, except for a more advanced science/math class, which I took. My grades were significantly lower than they were at the public school, (1 B, 2 B+'s, 2 A-'s, 2 A's) but does this carry more weight because of the fact that my private school is a lot tougher, despite having normal classes only for grade 10? I had a 4.0 weighted but only because GPA is calculated like B= 3.33, B+=3.66, A-=4.0, A=4.33 etc.

Then during junior year I really got the hang of the school and I had mostly A-'s and A's with a few B+'s here and there. Senior year I expect to get mostly the same grades at junior year.

Will colleges (I'm applying to schools like HYP) look down on my dip in grades after freshman year and rise after sophomore year? My school is pretty well known and sends a lot of kids to Ivys each year (10 or so kids out of 100)

Check with your new school to see how they handle transfer grades. My daughter transferred schools as an incoming Jr. Her new school didn't include her 9 and 10 grades in her grade point at all. Her transcripts show credit for 9th and 10th but the grades were not figured in. Only a couple of schools asked for both transcripts. In general upward trends are looked upon highly in college especially in AP classes where you prove you can handle college level work. I'm sure you will be fine.
