I am a very skinny kid. I am 5 foot 10 inches and only about 120 pounds. Should I buff myself up over the summer so I can attract the ladies?

Nope, it’s the inside that counts (lol)

Are you serious?

yes…as a general rule, you won’t get lucky unless you gain 20 pounds of pure muscle.

It never hurts to be in good shape, but whether or not this gives you enough motivation to start working out is your call. Attracting the ladies is probably just as much personality as it is anything else, so if being fit gives you confidence, it can’t hurt. If you’re willing to go for a girl at or below your approximate level of attractiveness, though, I don’t imagine you’d have a problem either way assuming that you’re not too scared to approach them.

You shouldn’t “buff” up for college, but you should probably start eating right and working out more for long-term health reasons.

you shouldn’t get muscular “for college” or to pick up girls, you should do it for your own health and so you can have more confidence in your appearance.

you’re about 25-30 pounds underweight… if you started a weightlifting regiment now, i’m sure by the end of the summer you could make some significant gains in your physique.

Skinny boys are hot.

A long as you aren’t as short as Lakrosse then you’re fine

If you aren’t at least 6’0 200 lbs you will never get laid, sorry.

I’m not going to joke. Yes you should start hitting the gym.

Chicks only dig guys who can bench 225+. Get to work.

6’0 200lbs? 225 bench? People’s standards are really low in this forum lol.

lol amperee, i look like you. 5 foot 10, 116-120 pounds. hahaha…i can bench 100, lift 25 lbs in dumbells (suckzor), and do 400 pounds in legs

T.T

400 lb squat is pretty damn good in my book.

"400 lb squat is pretty damn good in my book. "

Probably leg press, in which case, I’ve seen worse, but it’s not fantastic.

This is BS, everyone looks different and I seriously doubt that the OP got any kind of serious underweight problems. You do not get underweight problems unless you try to starve yourself, and you do not do that as a male. I got a brother who is 6foot1 and weights ~100 and he is underweight for sure but the OP is far from that.

I am actually quite tired of people calling something like 16 BMI “Serious underweight” while in fact it is often just their healthy weight. It depends on your body type, how wide you are naturally etc. Same with women, some are naturally thin and this it is no problem at all for them to stay in the mini sizes, while for others who are naturally bigger they just have to live with it since for them it would be a health risk to go down that low.

The thing is, just because it would be unhealthy for you to have those figures do not mean that it is for everyone.

^ agreed

HAHAHAH you thought a 120 lb kid was full squatting 400 lbs? LOL. You can’t squat that much below parallel and not be huge all over. Probably a quarter squat/leg press.

Anyway, it wouldn’t be a bad idea to bulk up a bit, but if you’re eating normally and often and still weigh 125lbs, it’s probably what you were meant to weigh. If you want to change that you gotta be real consistent with eating and weight training.

What? Being 120 lbs and 5’10’’ does seem sort of underweight for a male.

I remember when I was 135 lbs and 5’10’’ and I was running 1000 miles every year or something as a freshman in high school. I’m not trying to criticize someone’s body image - but eh, I don’t know. If you’re eating normally it’s fine I guess.

That 16 BMI is bs though. It doesn’t take into account fat vs. muscle or other things. You have to use that pincer device on your calf at least (Even though that sucks, its probably the cheapest option to determine real body mass index - not plain weight vs. height). Somehow I doubt the OP’s BMI is 16% fat.

it can’t hurt man…
