Do I need to retake the SAT Chemistry Subject Test?

Hey all,
I just got my SAT Results and scored a 720 in Chemistry. I want to study something in the chemical analysis part of forensic science and I feel that this score is somehow low. Should I retake the test? And is it recommended to re-take the SAT Subject tests more than twice? (Also, I want to apply to either UPenn/Stanford!)
Thank you!

No don’t retake. 720 is fine

I would not. If you don’t get your desired score after 2 times, it’s unlikely to improve on the third. If necessary, choose a different subject to take.

Probably not. What’s your 2nd test?

@sgopal2 Is it not kind of low since Stanford has a very low admissions rate and is very selective?

@skieurope This is my first sitting and I got an 800 in Maths and 770 in Physics. I just wasn’t prepared for the Chemistry one. Will my Chem results negatively impact my application?

Also, are SAT II Scores that important?

No. These colleges ask for 2 Subject Tests, so they will take the best 2. Although Penn requires you to send all test scores, Stanford (and the vast majority of colleges that request Subject Tests) allow you to pick and choose. For those schools, just send your top 2.

Probably not as important as your GPA, SAT/ACT/essays/EC’s, IMO.
