I'm not sure where I'm going to wind up at this point for college but I know I need financial aid. I took the SAT's already and got an 1830, but I don't think that will get me much scholarship. I'm going to retake them in May and actually study this time, but at that point all the Scholarships for next year will have already been given out. Assuming I test again and score somewhere around 2000+, is there any chance I can get any financial aid that late based on my SAT scores? If I can't, if I reapply for financial aid next year will my SAT's even matter or just the GPA I already have in college? I'm debating whether or not retaking the SAT's so late my senior year is even worth it... Thanks for the help.

It depends on the school. Some will take later scores, others won’t. You need to call the schools you applied to ask them.

SAT scores certainly won’t have any impact on the award they give you for your sophomore year. You can certainly ask the admissions office, but it’s unlikely that a May score increase will get you additional merit money for next year either. After May 1st, they already know if you’re enrolling or not!

Financial aid is based on need anyway…merit aid is not. Did you file your FAFSA and whatever other forms they require?

Ask your school about their policy. My daughter got a big merit scholarship increase based on retaking the ACT in June after she graduated HS and before she started at her college.
