My parents are still on vacation and I've just realised that they won't be able to pay my application fees by their credit cards in time for the application deadline of Jan 1. What should I do? Can I submit the credit card payments later?

technically, payments do need to be submitted by the application deadlines. Is there any way that you could just get your parent's credit card numbers, expiration dates, and security codes via email or through calling them? If not, I'm sure they aren't going to drop your application just because you "forgot" to pay. If you do it right away, I doubt that it'll matter (they aren't going to go through on January 2 discarding all the applications just because perhaps 1 thing was overlooked)

This is from the common app website:

If an institution that you have selected requires an application fee, this will be available in the 'Payments' section. If an application fee is required, you must submit this fee before your application package will be complete.

Since your application package must be ready by the dealine, I think the answer is yes. I would contact your parents to get their credit card information now. You will need their full name, credit card number, expiration date, and special code.

You should definitely pay by the deadline, because otherwise I doubt the college will receive your application. It happened to me when I applied early and I simply forgot to select a payment option. They emailed me and said that unless I submit the payment, they cannot download the application. So be very careful! If you cannot contact your parents by any means, email the colleges right away and tell them your situation. I emailed Williams yesterday and they answered in a few hours.
