Do i need to take foreign language placement exam?

I only took one Spanish course in highschool, and no language courses in community college. But ive spoken Korean for 19 years. Do i still need to take the exam?

Yes. You need to take the placement test to determine whether your non-primary language requirement has been fulfilled. They can’t just take your word for it. I believe it’s administered in August.

Are you an international student who went to high school in Korea and took Korean while in high school and four years of English as a foreign languge? If so the answer is probably no, you don’t have to take a foreign language placement test because your native language is Korean and you met your foreign language requirement by taking English for four years and then scoring well enough on Toepl or SAT CR section to qualify for admission.

Otherwise you need to take a foreign language placement test even if, as it appears, you are a transfer student. You can take the one for Korean and not Spanish but Korean is not a language test given on-line and you have to contact the Department of East Asian languages to arrange to take it on August 24 at UIUC. If you score high enough on it you may actually satrisfy any language requirement.
