I am a pre-med bio major, joining college in jan.
I wanted to know if i will have to take courses other than math,English,bio,chem,orgo chem., phy,psych, socio.?
such as theology courses,art and lit. and otehr fine art stuff like that.
i’m just trying to get a gist of what to expect I will ask all this to my academic adviser once i get to college but, I’m just curious.
You’re going to have to fulfill whatever requirements your college requires to complete your bachelor’s degree. I believe you’re going to Loyola Chicago.
Loyola has a core curriculum and you are required to take 1 or 2 classes in each of core Knowledge Areas. See: http://www.luc.edu/core/coreknowledge-first.shtml
Since the core areas include ethics; theology & religious studies; philosophy; art; history–I would venture to say yes, you’re going to have have to take coursework in philosophy, theology, art, history in addition to your pre-med coursework and required classes for a bio degree.
Jesuit colleges (Loyola is one) believe in educating the whole person. I attended a Jesuit college during my college days and my college had a very similar core curriculum.
