I originally indicated that I was applying for financial aid but my mom later ran the calculators and decided we would not receive any, so I am no longer applying for aid. Is it necessary to notify the colleges of this change, or will they just assume if I never send the forms? Is there any possibility my admissions decision would be delayed/impacted if I have missing financial aid forms? Also, in general, how do I withdraw my aid application? Thanks!

You will qualify for the standard student loans 5500 first year, 7500 second year, etc. if you file the FAFSA. Unless your parents can afford to pay the full amount, I would recommend you file the FAFSA in case you need the loans. I don’t think you can get them without the FAFSA completed. If you don’t need the loan, you don’t have to take it, but it wouldn’t be wise to exclude it as an option unless your parents are SIRE they can afford the entire amount themselves.

Yes, you should notify each college you applied to that you are no longer applying for financial aid. Some schools consider your need for financial aid in deciding whether or not to admit you . . . so if you tell them that you do not need FA, that could end up helping you to get admitted!

Just send an email to the admissions office of each school you applied to.
