I'm an international student (Indian) living in the Middle East applying to UC Berkeley and I haven't done my TOEFL yet and the deadline is November 30th
My SAT Scores were fairly high (Math 800, Writing 690, Critical 720) and I obtained a 4/5 in the AP English Language & Composition and I'm taking the AP English Literature & Composition this year
Do I need to take the TOEFL in order to apply or am I fine with what I have?
Also, if I need to take it, do I have to have the results back by the deadline or can they come out afterwards, as the nearest test date is December 11th?
Thanks in advance :)

You are supposed to have either TOEFL or IELTS: [University of California - English language requirements](http://www.universityofcalifornia.edu/admissions/international/toefl-ielts-exams/index.html)

They want test scores in their hands by about mid-Jan and that Dec test date is fine (application deadline date is not the UCs test score deadlline date – they also take Dec SATs and ACT)

Some schools may not need TOEFL if you have a fairly high score on Writing and/or Critical reading in your SAT /ACT test. You may need to send an email to admission office to ask this question.

Good Luck.

I think the fact that English is not your native language supercedes doing well on any testing. I know someone who still had to take the TOEFL even though they got perfect 800 test scores on their SAT I and II’s, including Literature.

Thank you all very much
I really appreciate it :)
