I am a little confused as to how colleges calculate legacy for admissions purposes. For example, my Grandfather attended Harvard, My grandmother and aunt attended Northwestern, My uncle attended duke, and my aunt attended emory. Do any of these help my chances of getting in?
thanks
Each college defines legacy as it sees fit. Harvard, for example defines it as one of your parents graduated from Harvard College **only/b Some universities might consider grandparents (e.g. Penn), but few will consider aunts and uncles.
And some don’t consider it at all. If they want to know, they’ll ask the question on their application.
