Ne one....? You are welcome to be brutally honest =)
I noticed that many people did 'research with someone on whatever' or 'won essay awards' or 'published article on some famous magazine' or 'helped organize this and that'........where can I register for these essay contests and such academic competitions? also, if neone knows what if takes to have your article selected for famous well-known magazines, let me know.

Hey good stats, cardinal! Dont worry, you have a shot definately!!! Just keep up your good grades!! I
m so jealous! lol.
Your EC
s are great too!! Ask your school if there are any opportunities for you to submit essays and such.Or go to a nearby college/university and just ask if you could do some research. Google for any essay competitions. There are alot of things you can do!!
O btw, how did you publish your book? I` m writing a book right now, but I dont know how to get it published...

Thanks for being modest while showing your stats. WAY too many people boast too much about their accomplishments.
Btw, I agree with all the comments posted above.
Good luck!

I know I asked similar question above........but im very curious, how much of an impact does your high school freshman grade have on stanford admissions? I had a C in one semester of all As and even though I made it up with A later, it still shows visually on my transcript. is this C, even though it was made up, going to ruin my chances? Just how much of an impact does freshman grades actually have?

ne one...?

I think someone mentioned it already, but standford does not REQUIRE freshman grades!! they dont look at them. so does the UC` s. so dont fret about it!

I think your chances are REALLY good, but no one can be 100% certain since Stanford's acceptance rate is 13% for 2004.

Well, I think that you are in the running for Stanford, and can possibly get in. However, if there is the unfortunate event that you don't get in, don't worry about it. Stanford's acceptance rate is 13%, so the admissions committee can't accept everyone who is qualified and would succeed at Stanford. Best of luck though, and when you apply, make a kick ass essay that will blow them away.

Korean- 4% chance at an IVY... u decide...

Why do Koreans have such a low chance at an Ivy? Oh and by the way, Stanford isn't an Ivy League School (didn't mean to make you look stupid or anything)...

I think that Koreans have a low acceptance rate at Ivy League institutions because they may be considered to be overrepresented within the application pool, and are extremely competitive. You are right when you say that Stanford isn't an Ivy League school because it is not, but I think that MJ920103 meant to say that Stanford is in the same league as the Ivy League basically. It accepts the same students, and has a lower acceptance rate than Brown, Dartmouth, Penn, and Cornell. Stanford's acceptance rate is 13% roughly.

so what ethnic group I am factors into admissions...? just because im from a pool of competitive asians can't lower my chances terribly rite??

Guess again, friend.

you have a good chance..being in state helps

My only question is, how are you sec/tres of American Red Cross and VP for American Cancer Society? Aren't those big associations...
or did you set up a chapter at your school? (xD just wondering)

...alsooo
I thought ethnic information was optional to give out? How would colleges know, anyway?

the positions I have are in the chapters at my school..........and as to why the ethnicity matters: im going to put in my essay about my life living abroad, so I have to state that fact one way or another.

I think you have a good chance

The C doesnt matter at all in the big picture, but we are talking about stanford....remember the best applicants from the best private schools are ALL applying to HYP- whatever the acronym is. You're competing with people with similiar stats but WITHOUT the C.....I mean, your stats are a ton better than mine and its cool that you wrote the book....im korean and i know plenty of immigrants that would benefit from things like that...but at that selective of a college, they cant help but be extrememly nitpicky about everything...
Dont be discouraged by this though, thats why people say HYP~ is a reach for practically everyone..
