Hi,
I’m an international student from eastern Europe and am applying to the following schools for Computer Science BS:
knox
Hobart and William Smith Colleges
DePauw
colgate
denison
union
grinnell
skidmore
franklin & marshall
I can pay for books and dormitory (about 10-15k), but am applying for need-based aid to cover tuition fees.
My scores are:
GPA approximately 3.8 out of 4 (my school did not follow American model)
I studied 3 foreign languages at school and know them at about C1 level (English, Russian, Turkish)
My SAT is 1780 (620Reading/620Math/540Writing with 5 in Essay) (I failed the essay because I was feeling very sick at the start of the test)
My SAT Biology E score is 670 (because I am thinking about going Bioinformatics route later)
My TOEFL iBT is 107
Also, all these scores are first tries.
My essay is “one of the best I’ve read” according to 5 different counselors, it’s written in Albert Camus-ish style and is about the lives of me and my friends.
I attended a separate IT school for a year, from which I graduated with some general CS knowledge with emphasis on Databases.
I was semi-finalist of various martial arts championships, but never won any.
I make electronic music (and it actually sounds pretty decent according to people).
I worked every summer during my high school days for 2 month as a salesman in a furniture store.
I volunteered at a local clinic for 2 year in a row after school twice a week.
I know this is a long post, but please help me out and I will do all I can to help you!
Also, I know liberal arts college isn’t the best place to study computer science, but I really like them and judging by my personality and my past, I doubt I’m a good fit for tech schools.
