Do I still have a chance at my schools?

So my grades dropped a lot first trimester senior year (3.5 uw gpa compared to my 3.95 cumulative), most notably I got a B in vector calculus and a B+ in biochemistry…do I still have a chance at these schools? I’m afraid they’ll see my midyear report and be like “nope haha yikes”. To be fair those are the hardest courses at my school by far, but I don’t even think that matters with the schools I’m applying to anyway

Schools: Brown, Columbia, UNC Chapel Hill, Northwestern, Washu in STL, UCLA, UCB,

also I already got into my safety so I’m not worried on that front, just wondering for the rest

Please let me know! Thank you!

As long as your other grades right now are good, I think you will be fine. That being said, all of those schools on your list are reaches. Brown, Columbia, NW, and WUSTL are reaches for everyone. UNC, UCLA, and Cal are state flagships and are going to be very difficult for you since you’re OOS. You are a competitive applicant, but Ivies are reaches for everyone, and your OOS-status is not going to help you at UNC, UCLA, and Cal. Good luck.

@wormholes thank you for the response! I only put my reaches on this post bc that was what I was most worried about my list is actually balanced

That’s good to know. You’ll probably get into at least one of these schools, but it’s good to be safe

The UC’s are a non issue as they don’t use senior grades in admissions at all. Might impact your chances a bit at the others though
