In college, do colleges require you to take certain classes for General Education requirements (GE)? Do all colleges have GE so you have a "well-rounded" education? Do the requirements differ from school to school, or are the pretty much the same? I want to avoid taking history courses in college, but will I have to because I will need history course credits to graduate? Does taking an AP eliminate some GE requirements?
Thank youuu in advance I am soooooo confused about GE. I want to take APUSH if it means I can get out of history class in college.

Depends on the school. Most colleges have some GE requirements. In this day and age, few require “history” per se. A sad srate of affairs, imo.

It seems (to me) that most state schools require at least 1 class of history. Perhaps many privates do, too.

That said, some of these schools will let AP US, AP Euro, or AP World history to suffice with a specific score. My kids didn’t have to take any history in college since AP US and AP Euro more than covered the req’ts.

There are some schools that don’t have any Core/Gen Ed req’ts.
