I have taken the SAT Subject Test in May and I’m going to take the SAT in June. I was wondering if I should wait until November to submit my SATs to Cal States and UCs? Or should I send them now?
You may make use of the free report from your June test.
Also, when I send my scores, does this send all of the scores of I have earned?
You should really wait to submit your SAT test scores (either regular or subject tests) until you’ve actually received the score. You do lose out on using the “Free” send but it’s really not a big bargain to send a standardized test score to a college and you don’t even KNOW the score.
Wait until admissions time to send your scores.
Also, you will probably have to adjust in the drop box what scores you are sending. You will probably be given a date or something or ALL scores may be sent. Keep in mind you might not have an option at some schools.
Submit the scores only if you know you are definitely applying to the schools and you are definitely not retaking the SAT in the fall.
I may send in the scores before the application but I’m with TheDidactic - I want to see the score before sending it.
Free score report is always good for safety and schools that want all schools. Unless your practice score suggest you are not ready, you should be not too far off.
For each test registration for the SAT or subject tests, you get four free sends. To use those, you must designate the colleges in your test registration as ones to receive scores by no later than the ninth day after you have taken the test. If you do that, the test scores are sent to the universities on the day, or up to two business days before, you get your scores online, and thus you will not know your score for the test before they are sent to the colleges. After scores come out, it costs $11.25 to send a score report per college.
Nevertheless, SAT follows an all scores sending format. If you designate any test score to be sent it will automatically send all test scores, both SAT and subject tests, that it has for you at the time of the send. You can prevent the sending of one or more tests when sending others by exercising what is called “score choice,” meaning when you are ordering test scores sent, you will have the option of not sending one or more prior tests if you have taken more than one test.
Because you get four free sends with each test registration, and because CB will send all scores when any are ordered (unless you choose otherwise), you can, for example, take a day of SAT subject tests and not designate colleges to receive the scores and then take the SAT and designate four colleges in that second registration and send both the prior subject tests and the SAT for free.
Also, since you mentioned the Cal States and the UCs, be aware of the following. For the Cal States, you should send your test scores to the CSU Mentor which has its own SAT code, 3594. If you do that, you need not send any scores to any CSUs, including the Polytechnics, because all to which you will apply will have your scores from CSU Mentor. For UCs, simply pick one UC and send scores to it; all other UCs will get the scores from that one. In other words, if you choose to wait to send scores later after you have taken the tests, you will only have two $11.25 charges for sending scores, one for CS Mentor and one for a UC, and that will cover all the CSUs and UCs to which you apply.
