do internships matter?

i have the opportunity to intern at the supreme court next semester but im not sure if it's worth it. it would basically be a paperwork position, aiding the clerk's office.

i didn't hear back from the guy for over 2 weeks so i figured it was out but he just called and left me a vm this morning. problem is: i've already made plans not to be in dc next semester (bought a ticket home, planned housing, etc).

is it worth it to rearrange everything and spend way more money $$$? (ticket changes, it's more expensive to study in dc next semester, etc(.

wouldnt it just be better to focus on the lsats over winter and spring and just make sure my gpa and lsats are high? OR, is the Supreme Court just too good to pass up?

btw: i know it's an amazing opportunity in and of itself. it would just be really expensive fo me to make it work.

“it would basically be a paperwork position, aiding the clerk’s office”

Do you think you will impress admissions offices with your ability to make copies. And, if getting this position can demonstrate anything about your ability, law school would judge by looking at your LSAT and GPA. If it pays, it won’t hurt, won’t help either. But if it costs a lot, then, probably not worth it. It’s probably more worthwhile for you to get a IB or MC internship; they pay about $15000 over 10 weeks.

It’s not going to majorly impact law school admissions. Might have some small effect on job-hunting or clerkship applications for afterwards.

With that said, it depends on how much money you’re talking about relative to your family’s position – and relative to whatever else you’d be doing. It sounds like a lot of fun and a great learning experience.
