do law schools take into account your major

For example if you had a lower gpa in Engineering as opposed to some other applicant who had a higher gpa in a humanities major would law school admissions take that into consideration?

Many do particularly for engineering (law schools have mentioned adding anywhere from .2 to .5 to your GPA if engineering). However, do not assume it makes a big difference, particularly because for most law schools the LSAT score is more important than GPA and because far too often engineering students demonstrate one of their disadvantages in the essays that are submitted -- many do not write very well.
