Hey guys, I’m signed up for (English) Lang next year (if only because I know the teacher). I’ve heard that colleges usually reward more credit for AP Lit than Lang, but in all honestly I’m more concerned towards applications than receiving (marginally) more credit. Do college admissions view AP Lit or Lang as a “better/harder” course or does it not matter just from an admissions viewpoint?

I think both of those classes make up freshman English at most universities.

Having taken both, I can’t say that one’s harder than the other. They’re just different from each other.

AP Lit is considered harder than AP Lang.

I took AP Lang this past year, and while the AP Lang exam will earn the sane credits as the AP Lang test at my desired college, I am taking AP Lit this upcoming year because my school only offers 3 AP classes.
It will look different (two different sets of curriculum) but not necessarily give different college credit.
