Hi guys!

I guess you guys can figure out what this thread is about. :) I'm a junior looking to take an AP English class next year, and I was wondering if anyone had any experiences they could share, or if any incoming AP English students could share why they were choosing Lang or Lit.

I'm personally leaning towards Lang because it seems more "diverse" in curriculum and more "useful" in building up my writing skill.

Thanks in advance! :)

wipe that smirk off your face

Well I'm in lit... and I hate it with an undying passion. I don't know if it is because of the teacher or not but I personally don't think the stuff is that important either. Go with Language.

I'm currently taking AP Lit, and I took AP Lang last year as a junior. I personally enjoyed AP Lang a lot more; the material really interested me! As for AP Lit... it's definitely more... dense. It gives me a headache quite often because of the heavy amount of analyzing we have to do. I enjoyed taking the AP exam for Lang. I think the AP Lang exam is much more easier than the AP Lit exam, from what I've seen so far from the Lit practice tests we've been taking recently. Take what you think would interest you more; if you enjoy analyzing symbols, poems, and novels...take AP Lit. If you'd studying rhetoric and the versatility of language, take AP Lang.

^^

That's the EXACT same as me.

I loved english last year. Good discussions, and I actually enjoyed writing style analysis essays. This year in Lit, I absolutely hate it. I dread it every single day.

If anyone here is doing the IB, I would highly recommend taking the AP lit. exam based on what I've read in this thread. With IB, you practically learn to analyze every book you read even if it isn't for school (I've even found myself analyzing movies sometimes...).
