Do med schools give aid to internationals?

Hi guys,
I got into swarthmore college class of 2022. I am an international student who certainly cannot bear costs of med schools. My counsellor told me that she has never heard of any international getting aid from med school after graduating from college. So should i just give up on dream of becoming a doctor if i enrol at swarthmore and pursue majors other than pre med or like are there med schools which are generous?

Your chances of even being admitted to a US medical school as an international are extremely low. Most of the few internationals who are admitted to US medical schools are funded by their home country. Chances of aid are even smaller except maybe at super endowed schools like Harvard.

Unfortunately the odds of you gaining an admission to a US medical school are extremely poor. Only 105 internationals matriculated into all US medical schools last year; 85% of those 105 internationals were Canadians.

All US medical schools require internationals to place anywhere from 1-4 years of tuition (some schools require tuition plus living expenses) in an US escrow account before they are allowed to matriculate.

Only a handful of US medical schools (Harvard, Yale, Stanford, JHU, Duke, Northwestern, Columbia, Dartmouth, Vanderbilt, Mt Sinai, Einstein) offer FA to internationals. FA for internationals is primarily in the form of private loans (which require a qualified US co-signer or a home country government guarantor) supplemented with a modest amount of grant aid.
