AP: US History 4 (I will have taken 10 AP classes once i finish senior year, but none of my teachers were any good at the subjects they taught, it was a miracle if one student each year passed. Our school is only 5 years old now and we still dont have a solid staff. So i took the ones I thought i could prepare myself for. I'm taking Biology and European History this year.)

whaddaya think?

bumpity bump bump

id say ur good at nyu not sure about vassar and usc good luck!

thanks!

anymore?

You have a good chance at your Safety, Match, and Match/Reach schools, except Vassar. Vassar, Columbia, and UCB, are more iffy.

do you have any suggestions for how they could become "good chances" instead of "iffy"s?

anyone else?

what do you think? write good essays, get good recs. there really isn't much you can do other than that you know.

Vassar likes strong recs and essays, and ED candidates. And, if you have a special talent or something you love, highlight it through out your application. Don't, however, do what some applicants do and just say why you like 'x', show them your passion in a different kind of essay.

Columbia is always a reach, though if you ED, you'll be in better shape.

UCB...it's more difficult for out of state students, so it's about what the university needs, not how good a candidate you are, necessarily. I'd suggets, if you're interested in a public school, UMichigan which has a similar feel to UCB because they have rolling admissions. The earlier you apply the more likely you are to get in (even from out of state). UWisconsin, UTexas & UNC also feel like UCB.

Just my 2 cents.

BTW--since you like Barnard, you might like Mt. Holyoke, Smith, Wellesley, Bryn Mawr, & Scripps. The first two are in the consortium with Amherst, Hampshire, and UMass. Bryn Mawr students can take classes at Haverford, Swat, and UPenn. Scripps is part of the Claremont Consortium, and Wellesley is near Boston.

thanks guys!

I got to school in Arlington too! Which school do you go to? I'm at AHS.

Juan Seguin, over by bowie

cate_mcginn:

UCB: Slight Reach (out of state)

Got my Sat 2s in ... ugh... not as bad as I thought theyd be.

Literature: 680
US History: 620 **took AP my sophomore year, when I didn't know what sat2s were
Math IIC: 520!!! **I didn't even answer half of the problems so I'm ecstatic about that score. Will probably take again in January now that I know the style/content of the test

Standardized tests are gonna be the thing they'll waver on the most, but I hope I can pull through with the rest of my app....

cate's essays r incredible!
UR IN EVERYWHERE!!! I bet my life on it.
high rank/high SATs/great EC/great essays :D

bumpity bump bump
