New here and curious

Hi all! This message board has pretty sucked up my life. Thank god I found AFTER my AP tests. I seriously can't stop reading. Anyway, here are my stats:

White female junior
Public H.S. in Minneapolis
Rank: 29/399 (Approximately top 7%)
GPA: 3.86 I think
PSAT: 202
SAT: 2070 (700 Reading, 640 Math, 730 Writing) I really don’t want to retake, but I think I could do better. That test is a freaking marathon. If my ACTs are really awesome, however, I probably won’t bother retaking.
SAT II: Took Math IIC, Bio (E), and Physics
ACT: June 10th
IB Diploma candidate

Freshmen and sophomore year I took basic Pre-IB stuff and AP US History (Got a 4)

This year (we grade every quarter):
IB Art – All As
AP/IB Physics – One B, three As (Praying for a 5 on the AP test…it would make me really happy because I love Physics)
IB SL Japanese – All As
AP/IB Calculus – One B+, three As (Probably a 4 or 5?)
AP/IB SL Biology – All As
IB SL History – All As
IB SL English – All As

I was in a play first quarter so my grades were a little lower than the rest of this year, which is a bummer.

Senior year:
IB HL Art
Theory Of Knowledge (for IB diploma)
IB HL Biology
IB HL History
IB HL Japanese
IB HL Math
IB HL English

ECs:
Debate – 9th grade
Gay-Straight Alliance – All years, president next year
Piano – Weekly lessons
Theater – Musical in 9th grade, tech in 10th grade, play in 11th grade
Minions (Club I helped start that raises money for school supplies) – 10th, 11th, 12th grade
NHS – 11th and 12th grade, lots of service (March of Dimes, food drive for community food shelf, volunteering for a nearby park’s Easter activities)
Japan Bowl – 10th and 11th grade (10th grade we were 1 question away from Nationals, booo)
Job at Minneapolis Institute of Arts – 10th, 11th, and 12th grade
Concordia Language Villages – 3 years at Mori no Ike (Japanese camp)
Trip to Japan this summer with Japanese class
This summer I will volunteer/intern on a local senatorial campaign.
Horseback riding – Since summer of 8th grade. This is my big one. I don’t have time for tons and tons of ECs because I ride 3 times a week. I half-lease a Thoroughbred named Isadora and have ridden loads of other horses since 8th grade. This summer I will ride at the very least, 3 times a week, more likely 4 if not 5 times. We’ll prepare for shows and hopefully do a lot of showing and then do the whole thing over again next summer. Horses are absolutely my life outside of school, and I hope that makes up for no things like varsity sports. I will definitely continue riding in college, hopefully at a fairly competitive level.

I don’t know for sure where I’m applying, but I’m looking at UW-Madison, Smith, Cornell (would probably apply to College of Agriculture and Life Sciences), Brown, Michigan, McGill, Grinnell, and maybe Wash-U. Oh, and I want to be a vet. I also need some more good safety ideas. Thanks, all!

Twin Cities would be an excellent safety.

u are really unique. u shouldn't have trouble getting in to any of those school.

UW-Madison has one of only 28 vet schools in the US. It has far superior science resources than most of the schools you listed. Except for a prestige based decision (i.e. a yale admit or something like that) you would not be wise to pass up in-state tuition @ Wisconsin. Especially when you are thinking about applying to other out of state publics.

UW - Match
Smith - Match
Cornell - Reach
Brown - Reach
Michigan - High Match/Low Reach
McGill - Match
Grinnel - High Match/Low Reach
WUSTL - Reach

if you like smith, you might want to look at mt holyoke- i believe they have great opportunities for equestrians
