@jamesinho,

Thanks for clearing that up.
And I’m so glad you responded to my post. I read a bit about that from personal stories from people who lived in Japan when I was reading about whether or not I’d face discrimination if I lived there for a couple years.

The personal accounts of light-skinned and Japanese-Americans and Haafu’s living in Japan kept saying the same thing: “It’s so annoying how everytime I speak Japanese to anyone they act surprised and say ‘Oh! You know how to speak Japanese? Wooooowww.’” I can imagine that would get reallllyyyy old after a while… Especially after you begin feeling like Japan is home but nobody accepts you like it’s your home.

I’ve never had the opportunity to talk to anyone about living in Japan. Do you think I should give it a try and study abroad there for a year? I hope to get better as speaking Japanese. And if I got better at speaking Japanese, is there any plausibility to living in Japan for a few years? Will I ever feel acceptance? Will I be able to make friends/get a good job/etc?

Thanks for your response :)
