YMMV.

If you like it, that’s fine. Maybe you talked to students who didn’t want to go to UCLA but was forced to by their circumstances. Overall, I think it’s a good school but it has its own ups and downs.

I’m not a fan of UCLA but I’m somewhat confident I would dislike most universities a lot more.

I’m a first year at UCLA, starting early with a summer session. I love the food; I love the squirrels; I love the physical activity that is walking to classes. The teachers are nice, and the faculty is friendly. I don’t like the snobby people and the airheads that get admitted to UCLA. But these are just my thoughts.

thanks, is there any little things that you love or hate about the school?

I completely agree with Sentiment.

I neither like nor dislike UCLA, but I bet that’s just a result of my feelings that college is really a scam, a waste of money, and just a trumped up exaggeration of knowledge.

I mean, lets face it.

I don’t like it*. I don’t like how materialistic and appearance conscious the students are. I also don’t like the sentiment that no one cares about their grades and really they are competitive on the DL. why be subtle about the competition in university? The squirrels keep trying to steal my food and pounce out of trashcans.
*I like that the bus is cheap, the ktowns, the activities available and 24 hour front desks. yamato’s is yummy, pinkberry in santa monica-sitting in south campus sketching, reading by the inverted fountain, “studying” in powell library-the amazingly fast wi-fi. free stuff on bruinwalk!!! running around campus at night

i like how the competition is underground and you don’t feel the same vibe as you would feel at berkeley. you don’t have the 1348957 people wearing national physics champion t-shirts when you go to take your physics exams.

I, too, love running around campus at night. Other little things i love include sliding my BruinCard to open doors, secretly tagging along on campus tours, fast internet, relatively cool temperature compared to my hometown in the San Gabriel Valley. I hate that I’m living in Saxon right now; I hate the current construction taking place on campus; I hate the people who smoke on campus; I hate the low water pressure.

I love that housekeeping automatically called maintenance to unclog my sink.

I’m a third year CSE major. I like the campus and though the CS/engineering program has some flaws, it’s excellent and I wouldn’t expect more from a public school.

I actually like UCLA for all the things that are mentioned above, plus the fact that I can do whatever I want to without having to ask permission while i am there. The only downside is having to study for midterms and finals.

Doesn’t this apply to every college?

^ errr I don’t think that’s exclusive to UCLA. That’s pretty much college life in general.

I know that what I said applied to every college, but I haven’t been to any other college besides UCLA. So I have nothing to compare to, that is not from personal experience. I like being in LA though.

im gettin tired of all the food places around haha. i feel like ive eaten everywhere already.

What I like:
I like the city of LA, the UCLA campus, the dorm food, the dorms, the school spirit and how you see many people wearing UCLA t shirts or sweaters or hats, the balance between sports and academics, the extremely friendly people you do meet from time to time, the sunny and warm weather most of the year, the view of downtown Los Angeles when walking down from Hedrick dining hall, the Rose Bowl, Pauley Pavilion, the amount of pride you get knowing your school has won the most NCAA championships and 11 basketball championships.

What I hate:
The bureaucracy of the administration, the entire Political Science department, snobby and elitist students - and there are plenty of them, rich kids that came to college to simply have fun - so they major in art history or psychology and do nothing but party and hang out with friends, the fact that everyone acts like they don’t care about grades but deep down inside they’re the most competitive cutthroat people you’ve ever met in your life who would do anything to get a good grade even if it means ruining yours, and the fact that we’re one of the best schools in terms of NCAA championships and sports in general and yet we only have 1 football championship, 1 heisman trophy, and 0 baseball championships.

Yamato’s sushi is trash. Just sayin

I like UCLA a lot. To some it may not seem diverse, but compared to where I went to high school UCLA already has people of a lot more backgrounds. I like that people care a lot about schoolwork but manage to do fun things as well. There’s a lot of opportunities and I like how we get, from what I know, a well-rounded college experience.

Wow that vague. I like going to different classes during the day, seeing friends along the way, all the speakers that give talks in Bunche, and studying in different eating places/libraries.

@ proflover-it’s cheap and close by, give me a break. or at least participate in the thread’s topic

UCLA is awesomeness!!! I may be repeating what others have said but I love the food here, the friendly student body, the atmosphere, the school spirit, the city of LA, the weather, the gym, the hundreds of events that go on on campus, and much more.

The only thing that might suck for you is your major unless your really good at CS. I hear its pretty difficult here. Other than that you’ll love it here at UCLA guaranteed or your money back.
