Do not take pre-law or criminal justice if you want to go to law school

This article shows that popular majors for law school (pre-law, criminal justice) are not good majors for people that are really interested in going to law school.

There really is no set major for law school admissions.

I was a poli sci major (one of the more popular, I will admit), my H majored in psych. I know attorneys who majored in chemical engineering, ancient languages, accounting, musical theater, sociology, labor relations, education, nutrition and, yes, criminal justice.

Take a well rounded program of courses that interest you, get the best gpa you can, study hard for the LSAT and enjoy law school and a great career.

Most colleges don’t offer a pre-law major. Strong verbal skills - reading, writing, analysis – are key. You can develop those in a lot of different majors.

Any major is fine for law school as long as one excels academically at college, does very well on the LSAT, and has an otherwise excellent applicant (essays, recommendations etc.).
