Does anyone know if this is the norm? Thanks!!

Mine aren't.

It's cheaper that way. Besides, you'll have to go out there yourself if you attend, so it's a useful experience.

I never have, I think it's important for the students to be able to just be a student without also being a son or daughter. I also think it sends the message that you believe they are able to make this decision themselves, it they aren't they aren't ready to goa away to college.

usually no. i dont think parents really ever go to admit weekends

what about the admitted students open houses (not the overnight)?

Some schools have events specifically for parents on admitted students days--see what your admissions packets say. If there are parent-specific events, it is a nice opportunity for parents to get to know the school along with you, and of course then perfectly appropriate for them to attend.
