Does anyone know if this is the norm? Thanks!!

Yes, it is usually geared for both parents and student.

great, thanks!

actually its geared for students not parents, u asked this question in the other forum too. ive rarely heard of parents going with students to admit weekends

Most admitted students days we attended has simultaneous activities going for students and parents. It is helpful for parents to get a feel for the college and it is good to be able to have enough knowlege to help your child make a decision if they happen to want to bounce ideas and impressions around later. You won't probably see your parents all day though so don't worry!

I think parents should go, especially if they haven't visited the school or if there is still a choice to be made between acceptances.

Students and parents can both go, but the school usually separates them, so each can get their own feel for the school.

We've been to JMU and RITso far and will do Syracuse on Monday. So far, parents have definitely been included (in fact, I often see both parents). These schools are 5-6 hrs away and I get to do some of the driving. My daughter and I usually split up for some of the tours/seminars and then meet up later. There have been individual financial aid meetings with the fa counselor at each school and I'm sure they expect the parent to attend this. My 16 year old son attended the JMU session with us and he immediately went off on his own, to check out certain depts that we wouldn't be visiting. We met up for lunch. He and his sister went off for some of the day without me. I came in handy when it was time to buy the sweatshirt.

We attended Trinity's and it gave us a much better feel for our child's college as well - and hence, we weren't as apprehensive last fall when they left for school. There were scheduled activities and info sessions offered for parents (as well as a great lunch) but even if there aren't just wandering around campus, going to the bookstore, library and cafeteria can be fun...made me a bit nostalgic actually for my youth!

All of the schools S is considering invite parents to come. The have fin aid and other sessions geared towards them.
