<p>Someone started ranting on my wall about some mass dolphin killing in some country. He proposed a genocide to prevent it from happening again.</p>

<p>It’s entirely rational to do so. Compared with caring about humans, caring about animals will do MUCH more to enhance the net welfare of all sentient beings. For the simple reason that many more people already care about humans as a whole, combined with the principle of diminishing marginal utility.</p>
<p>Plus humans are resource hoggers and will always find something to be unhappy about, and animals don’t hog as much resources and don’t need much to be happy. It takes far fewer resources to make most animals happy than to make a human happy.</p>
<p>Admittedly, I have a weak spot for endangered animals and intelligent birds. I care more about endangered animals and intelligent birds than I care about almost all of humanity, but I’ll admit that I don’t care much for cows and most slaughterhouse victims.</p>

<p>Amen! And I’ve never been secretive about my attachment to most furry animals over humans. I think it’s a survival mechanism since humans are slowly killing our planet. :p</p>

<p>I have a friend that is sooo STUPID!!!.. She cries and sobs when animals die, but when a human dies tragically she laughs and says “that’s what they get for being stupid”… like one time in class we watched “Food Incorporated” and she laughed when she saw the really sad part when the 2year boy old kid died of E-coli… . Every time I ask her why, she just says “Well humans can think and see what they are doing and animals cant.” </p>
<p>She cares more about what happens to her damn cat than her family.</p>
<p>^I think that’s really sweet of her. Poor girl must have been mistreated by humans. She probably found solace in eagles and other animals.</p>
<p>I know I did! I went rock climbing after a girl rejected me, and an eagle came by to give me company. I talked to it for like half and hour, and it seemed like it was listening to me…and then it kept looking at me when I talked lol.</p>
<p>It sorta flew away though, but from then on, I knew I loved eagles.</p>

<p>I get you… I love animals too especially Doves… But if my sister was in danger or needed help, I would rather save my sister. I also feel sad when animals get mis treated or abused.</p>

I think that anyone who laughs at a 2 year old dying is just wrong, wrong, wrong and needs some help.</p>
