I applied to TAG for Irvine. They said that I had to submit the UC application to them as well, before they review my stuff. In my personal statements, I wrote some stuff specific to Berkeley, since that is the only other UC I am applying to. Not sure if Irvine would get turned off by that. Do schools read personal statements when dealing with TAG?

No, but if for some reason your TAG was rejected, they would consider your personal statements for general admission.

UCI is 1 of 4 UCs (UCB, UCLA, and UCM) that actually read Personal Statements in a normal scenario. As long as you met the TAG requirements, there should be no reason that the PS would affect your admission.

I did the same thing last year and wrote about Berkeley on my PS, but i don’t think it affect my acceptance to UCD, UCSB, UCSD (TAG), or UCLA.
