UC App Personal Stmnt for all UCs?

I've been doing a lot more research into UC applications in prep for the upcoming TAG window and I noticed the UC website discuss the 'Personal Statement', which is a pair of essays/writing prompts attached to the UC App. I was under the impression that only UCB takes your Personal Statement into account when detemining admission. So, does the Personal Statement count towards each and all UCs, or is it somehow not required for some? I haven't opened my own UC App account yet, but plan to soon along with the TAG.

Thanks for the clarification.

I know UCB, UCLA, UCI and Merced read it. It probably doesn’t matter for the rest. I wrote mine in a couple hours with some mistakes and I still got in everywhere. I didn’t apply to the schools I mentioned though.

Thanks for the reply and the insight. I’m really only applying to UCSC and I plan to do a TAG as well, so either way I guess there should be no issues.

Like @mermaker said those schools like read it and consider it for admissions since they are holistic institutions. The other UCs may read it but it is not as important to them.

All schools will read it; however some place more weight on it than others. If you are planning to attend UCSC, and intend to TAG you shouldn’t have a problem. Be sure to complete your prerequisites and IGETC. They were pretty firm with certain majors last year. UCSC had record numbers last year, a higher increase than the rest of the UC’s. still, their acceptance rate is higher than most.
